The Senior Crimestoppers Program works much like a neighborhood watch where senior facilities with a strong commitment to crime prevention implement increased awareness and a zero tolerance policy. The program provides on-going crime prevention programs designed to deter incidents of crime in long-term care and senior housing facilities.
Benefits of the program include:
- personal lock boxes provided for use by residents and/or family members of a resident
- cash rewards paid for anonymous information about crime incidents
- 24/7 call center tips line
- ongoing education promoting zero tolerance to crime
"F&M Trust is pleased to partner with The Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation to bring this incredible program to Chapel Pointe at no cost. Crime against nursing home residents happens more than we’d like to think, " commented Tony Damore, Assistant Vice President, Cumberland County Market Manager at F&M Trust. "Our investment in this program will help to strengthen the fight against crime perpetrated against the elderly. We feel it will provide a safe, secure living environment for residents and staff.”
The announcement was made at a dedication ceremony at the center located at Chapel Pointe, 770 South Hanover Street on October 29th by SHCPF and F&M Trust. SHCPF Vice President Kay Joest made the announcement along with F&M Trust President William E. Snell, Jr. Accepting the program for Chapel Pointe was Jonathan Doty, Director of Development and Outreach. This is the second Carlisle area senior center that F&M Trust is sponsoring. The bank began funding a Senior Crimestoppers Program at the Forest Park Health Center in August of 2008.
The Senior Crimestoppers Program was developed by The Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation (SHCPF). The Senior Crimestoppers Program produces outstanding results nationwide with participating centers experiencing a collective reduction in total crime incidents of 91.38% for the last reporting period.
