Wilson earns National Certification

            (Chambersburg) Dennis L. Wilson, vice president and Investment & Trust Services Officer at F&M Trust, was recently awarded the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers (ICB), a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association, in Washington, DC.
 
           Wilson joined the bank in 1998 as the community office manager at the bank's Memorial Square Office and has nearly 25 years of banking experience. He was named vice president in 2001. Wilson’s role in the Investment & Trust Services Department includes assisting clients meet their financial needs with a variety of services through retirement planning, asset management, financial planning, and estate planning.
 
Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a major in management from Shippensburg University. He graduated from the Intermediate School of Banking, the Commercial Lending School, with honors from the Advanced School of Banking, and with top honors from the School of Trust, Investments and Wealth Management - - - all sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bankers Association (PBA) at Bucknell University. Wilson also graduated from the Cannon Financial Institute Trust School at the University of Georgia in Athens.
 
A Chambersburg native, he resides in Shippensburg.   Wilson, a graduate of Leadership Franklin County, serves on the board of directors of the Chambersburg Hospital and Forever Caring Fund of The Church of God Home in Carlisle. In addition, he is a member of the audit and finance committee of the Church of God Home, and served as past treasurer of the Franklin/Fulton County Bankers Association.
 
The CTFA designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of wealth management and trust. To qualify for the CTFA certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the trust profession, pass an exam, and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CTFA exam covers many areas including fiduciary and trust activities, financial planning, tax law and planning, investment management and ethics.
 
Financial services professionals, working through the Institute of Certified Bankers (ICB), initiated the CTFA designation and eight others in order to establish meaningful standards of knowledge in specialty areas of the financial services industry. ICB certifications formally recognize those who meet these standards and meet professional continuing education and development requirements.
