F&M Trust receives NAHRO Award of Merit

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) recently presented a National Award of Merit in Program Innovation – Affordable Housing to F&M Trust for the bank’s participation in the Carlisle North East Street Revitalization Project in downtown Carlisle.

The national award was accepted by F&M Trust president and CEO, William E. Snell, Jr., at the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Cumberland’s awards luncheon in April. Other participants in Carlisle North East Street Revitalization Project who were honored by NAHRO included the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Community Development, Borough of Carlisle and Carlisle Housing Authority.

The project was the fourth phase of the Pride of Carlisle Neighborhood Revitalization Program. The initiative included the acquisition of the property, demolition of the deteriorated structures, and new construction of five homes with traditional neighborhood designs featuring porches and set-backs consistent with other homes in the east end of the Borough of Carlisle. One of the new home is fully accessible for owners with disabilities. Project developer was Carlisle Housing Opportunities Corporation and Galbraith Pre-Design was the contractor. F&M Trust’s funding came through the Federal Home Loan Bank’s (FHLB – Pittsburgh) Affordable Housing Program.

This is the second time that F&M Trust has been a recipient of a NAHRO National Award of Merit. The bank was recognized in December 2008 for program innovation – community revitalization for its participation in The Livery project in downtown Carlisle.

F&M Trust is an independent community bank headquartered in Chambersburg with over $970 million in assets. The bank presently operates twenty-five community banking offices in their network throughout Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, and Huntingdon Counties in Carlisle, Boiling Springs, Newville, Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Greencastle, Waynesboro, McConnellsburg, Hustontown, Orbisonia, St. Thomas, Marion, Mont Alto, and Warfordsburg.
