Tompkins to Lead F&M Trust’s Risk Management

(CHAMBERSBURG, PA) Officials at F&M Trust announced that Jane B. Tompkins will join the bank’s management team as Senior Vice President and Risk Management Officer. 

Tompkins has an extensive background in credit management, commercial services and lending during her thirty-nine years in banking. She began her career as a senior loan review analyst and commercial lender at CoreStates after a five-year stint with the U.S. Department of Treasury, Comptroller of Currency performing bank examinations. She later served as vice president – credit review, manager of loan review, credit officer, and senior credit officer at Fidelity Bank and PNCBank. Tompkins then joined Waypoint Bank as executive vice president – risk management before moving to Legacy Bank as chief credit policy officer. 

Upon Legacy Bank being acquired, she formed a consulting firm, 5 C’s Consulting Inc., working with a dozen community banks to manage risk and monitor their commercial loan portfolios in line with regulatory requirements. After two years as president and owner of the consulting company, Tompkins then joined Tower Bancorp as executive vice president and chief credit officer in 2007. Following Tower’s acquisition by Susquehanna Bancshares, she became Senior Credit Officer at Susquehanna and was responsible for credit quality in most of Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey for commercial lending, as well as for all middle market lending across the organization. 

As risk management officer at F&M Trust, Tompkins will be responsible for ensuring the bank maintains adequate policies to control credit, operational, compliance and other risks. In addition, her duties include managing the bank’s enterprise risk management program, ensuring the overall quality of the bank’s loan portfolio and acting as a liaison to the bank’s internal audit and loan review firms.

Tompkins earned a bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College. Born in the Philadelphia suburbs, she currently resides in Carlisle. Tompkins has previously been involved on the finance committee at the United Way and on the board of directors of Theatre Harrisburg, Central PA Food Bank, the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, and others.
